Your outfit doesn't have to be flashy to stand out but it certainly can be. You can spice up your outfit with a classy pattern with a brighter color scheme. The proper accessories will also keep your outfit unique. If your style leans more towards the conservative side you can still have an amazing Derby outfit. A classic blue blazer with the right shirt and slacks will give you a polished and sophisticated look.

Starting from the bottom, your shoes and pants are a crucial part of your ensemble. The number one rule for shoes at the Derby is that you wear them sockless which makes loafers a go-to. Your pants can be bright anything from pink to a bright blue depending on the color of your jacket.

Your jacket will be the first thing that people will notice so it needs to be sharp. You can go with just a solid color or a patterned jacket. If you go with a solid it should be anything from a classic navy to something a little brighter. If you go with a patterned jacket a window pain or plaid pattern with a bright colored accent will certainly have some heads turning.

The shirt you wear will largely depend on the jacket and pants you wear. If you wear a patterned jacket and you will need a solid shirt to match the color scheme of your jacket and pants. With a solid jacket, you can have some fun with your shirt. Add a pattern that will correlate with the jacket and pants.

Finally, your accessories will tie everything together. A dapper tie and pocket square will be the cherry on top. Bow ties are popular for the Derby but not a necessity. With your accessories, you need to have the color schemes match up.

Whether you're going to the Derby or not its an occasion that you can let your guard down and really let your style flourish.
